Take-Two escalates from takedowns to subpoenas
DMCA subpoenas filed in New York demand user data from Discord, Google and X.
Take-Two filed DMCA subpoenas in the Southern District of New York against Microsoft and Discord on 20 August, and against Google and X Corp on 21 August.
The Discord subpoena, returnable 4 September, demands device identifiers and IP addresses for every user in three named servers since 1 June — not only the people who uploaded material.
That is a different tier from a takedown notice. It reaches bystanders.
